Hi everyone! For anyone reading this who does not know me, my name is Cameron Yockey and myself along with my better half Brianna are known in the area for renovating homes in poor condition as well as community redevelopment efforts as part of the 7 companies we own and operate. I am a licensed and insured general contractor as part of our operations.
A few days ago, I had a very kind woman who is a long time Tarentum resident reach out to me and ask if she could have a meeting with me at her home. I met with her at her home in Tarentum and she asked we have a meeting outside first and proceeded to tell me she was embarrassed for me to see the condition of the inside. She gave me a proposal in which she asked if I would put a roof on her home and in exchange for this service when she was able to move or she passes, I would receive her home as repayment for our services.
Preying on people in bad situations isn't my thing, however I want to help this woman, who would like to remain anonymous as she is living in a house that is extremely dangerous to her health and her safety as this home is not structurally sound at this point. More pictures can be found on my Facebook page.
The roof is rotted, the bathrooms and other areas of the home are infested with mold and her steps leading into the home are essentially entirely collapsed. Additionally the garage needs torn down before it falls down.
She reached out to a county official for help as she had applied for a grant with Action Housing but they ran out of money before they got to anything outside of the city of Pittsburgh limits. That official turned around and provided the images of the damages to code enforcement and they are threatening to condemn the home and remove her.
She can't do a line of credit because she can't get insurance due to the roofs condition. She works at a nearby grocery store as she had lost her good paying job during the pandemic and has not been able to successfully find a new position in her field. she had discovered her home had back taxes that were from many years ago and has been using any extra money she can save from work to chip away at these which has prevented her from being able to save for a roof.
We are able to keep the goal for this budget relatively low for the work that needs completed as our company will be fronting the bill for as much as possible on this project for her.
