My Story: Building the Home My Mother Has Always Dreamed Of

My name is Semi Talemaira Naisele, and I am the eldest in a family of four.

My journey has never been an easy one, but it has shaped me into the person I am today.

When I was in Form 6, my life changed forever — my father passed away. Overnight, everything we knew fell apart. My mom became a single parent, raising us on her own with strength, courage, and a heart full of love. After losing Dad, we had no choice but to return to my mother’s family home, where we stayed under the same roof with relatives because we had nowhere else to go.

Growing up, I watched my mother sacrifice everything so that we, her children, could have a future. She worked tirelessly, she prayed endlessly, and she stood strong even on days when her heart was breaking.

Thanks to her, I graduated from tourism school and worked hard to build my career in the tourism industry.

But through all these years, one dream has never left our family — especially my mother’s heart:

To one day have a house of our own.

A place where she can finally rest.

A place she can call home.

A place built with love, not struggle.

I have been working and saving for years, and with God’s grace and every little bit I managed to gather, I have built our house from the ground up — but only halfway. The rest is still unfinished, standing there as a reminder of how close we are… and how far we still have to go.

My mother’s health has been getting weaker every day. She tries to hide her pain, but I see it. And she has only one request for me — her eldest child:

“Complete the house so I can move in… if you want me to live longer.”

Those words broke me.

I want nothing more than to give her the peace and comfort she deserves after a lifetime of sacrifice. She has carried us for so long — now it is my turn to carry her.

So today, with a humble heart, I am reaching out to ask for your help.
