Hi everyone!
I am Tristan Jones, and on Friday, March 1, I will embark on the David Goggins 4x4x48 challenge. Running 4 miles every 4 hours, for 48 hours straight. This challenge will not only test my physical limits but also serve a noble purpose - to raise awareness and charitable support for Jessica’s House, a sanctuary of solace for those in deep grief in Turlock, CA.
In joining the 4x4x48 challenge, I pledge not only to run but also to match all donations up to the first $1,000.00. Every step, every mile will carry the weight of hope and compassion for those who seek light in their darkest hours.
Jessica’s House provides a safe place for children, teens, young adults, and their families grieving a loss. Jessica’s House offers peer support groups for Parent and Sibling Loss, Hope after Homicide, Hope after Suicide, Hope after Overdose, HeartStrings for infant and pregnancy loss, Spanish language groups, and School Groups for students on various elementary, middle, and high school campuses in the area. Support groups combine therapeutic talk, play, and creative expression, which promotes healing and hope for the future.
The genesis of Jessica’s House emerged from the shared sorrow of families who intimately understood the void that grief leaves. After the death of her husband when her children were young, Erin Nelson, began a grief ministry in her church. After learning of the Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon, she gathered key community members who also shared a grief story, and together, they explored broadening the grief ministry to bring peer grief support to children and families in the Central Valley of California. Jessica’s House was named after Jessica Everett who died from Leukemia at the age of nine. Jessica’s House opened in the Spring of 2012.
Jessica’s House is a testament to resilience, compassion, and unwavering support. For over a decade, it has been a guiding light for thousands of families in our community seeking support from others going through a similar experience. Jessica’s House provides a unique source of grief support for children, teens, young adults, and their adult caregivers at no charge to families.
I hold in high regard the tireless efforts of all those at Jessica’s House. Their dedication to healing hearts and nurturing spirits is nothing short of awe-inspiring. I am humbled and privileged to stand alongside such a remarkable organization in their noble cause.
With deep gratitude and unwavering determination, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who support during this challenge!
