Running for Futures That Matter

This year I’m joining a team from Foundation Futures to take on the Great North Run and then, in the weeks that follow, I’ll also be running a marathon and an ultra marathon.

Three huge challenges in the space of one month, all with one goal: to raise funds for Foundation Futures, a charity that changes lives right here in the North East, something I have been able to be apart of for the last 6 months.

About Foundation Futures

Foundation Futures is a community powered organisation supporting both young people and adults who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges. Their work includes:

• Mentoring teenagers at risk of exclusion, giving them a voice and a new direction.

• Providing safe spaces, warm meals, and trusted relationships when people need them most.

• Wellbeing sessions for adults, helping people rebuild confidence and hope.

• Leadership and youth voice projects that grow resilience and self-belief.

• Trips and opportunities that broaden horizons for people who rarely get the chance to leave their neighbourhood.

The team’s work is practical, heartfelt, and transformative creating second chances and brighter futures for those who need them.

Why These Runs Matter

The Great North Run will be special because I’ll be running it alongside a group from Foundation Futures celebrating the community spirit that makes their work possible.

The marathon and ultra marathon will be solo efforts long, testing miles where every step will be a reminder of the challenges people face daily, and the strength they find with the support of Foundation Futures.
