On Saturday 6th June, I’ll be taking on the National Forest Way Ultra 75 in Burton-on-Trent, a 75-mile ultra marathon across the Midlands and the first ever race to cover the full National Forest.

It’s a demanding route through Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire, linking the National Memorial Arboretum to Beacon Hill Country Park and it will push me physically and mentally to my limits.

But this run is about far more than the miles.

I’m running in memory of Jim, my wife’s grandad, who sadly passed away last year. Jim was one in a million, someone who never had a bad word to say about anyone and treated everyone with respect & kindness. He was a true role model to all of us and quite simply, the best.

When Jim needed help most, the Midlands Air Ambulance reached him in just nine minutes, doing everything they could to help him. That speed, care and dedication meant everything to our family and we’ll always be grateful.
