Angela was involved in setting up Streatham Common Community Garden and went on to become a trustee.

She was passionate about gardening and that it be accessible to the wider community. While my sister and I were sitting with mum in what would be her last few weeks, she said that wanted family flowers only for her funeral, and for any donations to go to Streatham Common Community Garden. So this is what we are making
happen. Your donations will go towards a specific project which will be in mum's name and serve as a type of memorial.

Mum loved being down at the Community Garden. Over the last 10 years she has spent so much time down there, helping to turn disused land into a community space where people can come and learn how to garden. She spent 50 years teaching in classrooms, and on 'retiring', she found a new classroom to teach and learn in at the community garden. She began gardening after we lost our dad, and it was a way for her to be connected with him, as he enjoyed growing flowers in our garden. Mum really took the baton and ran with it, and over the years the garden at home came to overflow with vegetables and fruit with the very occasional flower! She loved sharing her passion for growing down at the community garden and your donations will help her passion to be shared with even more people.

We have some ideas already for what we could do with the donations: a memorial planter with a plaque on, that could be used for educational demonstrations, as well as willow weaving courses that mum loved attending herself. Once we have an idea of the final donation amount we will be very proud to share news of what the donations will fund.
