On February 11, 2025, we tragically lost Jose Maria Perez Mata, a beloved partner, friend, and son, in a sudden and devastating car accident. Jose was working on a construction project at a neighbor’s house when he left to pick up supplies and never returned home. His unexpected death has left his family, his partner, Brittani, and his loyal dog, Ketza, in disbelief and mourning.
Jose, originally from Spain, was deeply loved by his family, who are now working tirelessly with the Spanish Consulate and local authorities to bring him back to Spain for a memorial. The cost of transporting Jose’s remains to Spain and arranging a memorial there is estimated to be over $10,000. This does not include covering the expenses of round-trip flights for his family to come to Oregon and having a second memorial here in the States.
In addition to these heavy costs, Brittani is left facing a mountain of financial stress. She and Jose had been renting a home together for the past year, and she is now responsible for all the bills, rent, utilities, and the care of Jose's senior dog, Ketza.
We are asking for donations to help cover the expenses of Jose’s memorials both in Oregon and Spain, and to provide financial support for Brittani and his family as they navigate this painful and challenging journey. Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference as Brittani faces the emotional and financial challenges ahead.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity during this heartbreaking time. It is with the help of loved ones and our community that we can start to heal and honor the memory of Jose, who was taken from us far too soon.
