Help Olivia Get the Critical Health Care She Needs

Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Supporters,

I’m reaching out with love and hope for my daughter, Olivia, who has autism. Olivia is a beautiful young lady with various special needs and she brings much joy to my life and to everyone she meets. As she is now considered a legal adult, she requires a guardian to ensure her well-being, health, and happiness.

On March 24, 2025, after 18 months and $40,000 of legal fees spent during a contested guardianship, I was awarded sole guardianship of Olivia. Prior to then, she was spending most of her time at her father's home due to some legal maneuvers implemented by her father in family court several years ago.

As Livi transitioned to living with me full-time again, I noticed some major health issues that had not been tended to. One such issue, a deeply infected tooth, will cost several thousand dollars in dental expenses and anesthesia not covered by insurance. Livi has bravely endured a lot of pain, discomfort, and sleepless nights.

To compound things, Olivia's father has filed an appeal against the judge's recent decision and that will cost me several thousand more in legal expenses to defend.

As a single parent, there's only so much in expenses I can cover on my own. It has already been a very expensive journey so far, and I have exhausted all other avenues for financial help.

Despite everything, my priority and commitment is Olivia's health. She has numerous health issues. She needs a gastroenterologist and neurologist. She had not been attending doctor and dental appointments as was needed when she was living with her father. I am also scheduling additional therapies that had been dropped.

Paying the new legal expenses allows me to do what it takes to remain as Olivia's guardian so that I can properly manage her healthcare. Unfortunately, the law states that I have to be represented by an attorney in guardianship court.
