This Go Fund Me is dedicated to assisting my father, Paul Annan, who has financial needs after caring for my dear, recently departed, mother.
Over his lifetime, my father devoted himself to everyone before himself, being one of the most giving people I have ever met. He has worked tirelessly as a pastor, father, husband, and graphic artist, making sure to always give to the best of his ability.
Paul has been the most patient and devoted father my sister and I could have ever asked for. His love for our mother was powerful, and unending, even to her final days.
Over ten years ago, my mom, Miriam, contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite. It went largely unnoticed and undiagnosed for quite some time. It was not until a car accident, in which my mother was rear ended, that the disease truly made itself known. My mother suddenly was afflicted with strange and unexpected pain and symptoms that did not seem related to a typical car accident.
Despite attempts to have these strange symptoms treated, doctors at the time refused to acknowledge that Lyme disease existed in this region of the United States. It was not until years later we discovered that she was indeed suffering from the well-established and resilient Lyme disease that would end up taking her life.
The development of the disease slowly and painfully stole the fabled agility, energy, and enthusiasm that were such a part of my mother’s personality. This left her bedridden with constant pain and little control of her body.
Over the next ten years my father relentlessly pursued her well-being, taking on the role of a full time caregiver while continuing to work as well. Due to the medical necessities dictated by this situation, my father is now left with a financial situation which is forcing a very difficult decision regarding the home and land he has worked so hard to retain for over 30 years.
In an interest to help ease some financial stress as he figures out his next steps—while also dealing with the loss of his precious wife, Miriam—we would ask, if you are able, that you dedicate something to assist a wonderful person dealing with a terrible situation.
