Thank you for taking the time to read our story. It is with heavy hearts and a sense of urgency that we turn to you for support in reuniting our family. For nearly a year, we have been denied the chance to see our beloved grandchildren, and our son has been separated from his children for over a year. The pain of this loss is indescribable—not only for us as grandparents, but also for our son, who wants nothing more than to be present in his children’s lives.
From the moment our grandchildren were born, we have been devoted to them. They grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and adventure with myself, my husband, and their auntie. Our home was always open to them, full of cherished memories—holidays together, magical days at the seaside, visits to play areas, trips to the zoo, family gatherings, and countless afternoons at the park. These experiences were as meaningful to us as they were to the children; we simply cannot imagine our lives without them.
Sadly, everything changed when we stood by our son in his effort to be a father to his children. In supporting him, we lost our own right to see our grandchildren. The courts and Cafcass chose to believe unproven accusations made by their mother, and despite having evidence to the contrary, our son’s voice—and ours—was not heard. Legal aid, which our son was entitled to due to the abuse he suffered, did not allow for contesting the Cafcass report. This left us feeling helpless and betrayed by a system that should protect the interests of children and families.
Grandparents in the UK have no automatic legal right to see their grandchildren, regardless of the relationship they’ve built over the years. We have always tried to do what is best for our grandchildren, to provide them with stability and unconditional love. It is unthinkable that the system can so easily take this away.
We have started a petition to help change these unjust laws, but our immediate hope is to secure the funds to pay for a solicitor—someone who will truly fight for our family’s right to be together. Without proper legal representation, we are left to navigate this process alone, and the emotional toll has been tremendous. Asking for help is not easy, but our family is everything to us, and we are willing to do whatever it takes to be reunited with our grandchildren.
We humbly ask for your support, whether it is a donation (no matter how small), sharing our story, or offering a kind word. Every gesture will bring us one step closer to seeing our grandchildren’s smiles again and helping our son be the father he longs to be. Your generosity will help cover solicitor fees and related legal costs that we simply cannot afford without assistance.
Thank you for considering our plea. Together, with your help, we hope to rebuild our family and fight for the rights of loving grandparents and fathers everywhere.
With heartfelt gratitude,
A devoted grandparent and parent
