A Father: Detained by ICE while working

On a routine workday (7/3/2025) in Santa Fe Springs/Whittier, CA., Jose Luis Mendoza Jimenez was doing what he’s done for years, which is landscaping and working hard under the sun to provide for his family. Without warning, ICE agents arrived and unlawfully detained him while he was simply doing his job. Jose has lived in the United States since the year 2000 and has built his entire life here, raising a strong, loving family and contributing to the community with dignity and integrity.

Jose is the father of five children (three sons and two daughters) and the proud grandfather of two young granddaughters. He is a dedicated parent who speaks to his children every single day, offering love, guidance, and unwavering emotional support. His absence has left a profound void, and his family is now struggling not only with the heartbreak of separation but also with the financial instability that comes with losing their main source of support.

Since then, his family has confirmed that he was deported almost immediately and left in Tijuana with nothing but the phone and personal belongings he had on him that day. He is now trying to find his way back to his pueblo and begin again from scratch in a country he hasn't called home in over two decades.
