A family losing their mum to cancer

Michelle Bailey is a 53 year old single parent who always carries her children at the heart of everything she does, and who mean the absolute world to her.

In the last 5 years Michelle and her children have been through so much heart ache and loss, more than any family should have to endure, losing a family member every year since the year 2021.

the most recent being Michelle’s partner and her children’s father who sadly passed away at age 49 in April 2024 due to decline in his health, sadly they are going through it all over again.

Michelle has 7 children the youngest two only being 12 and 10, who both have additional needs and require support.

In July 2025 after numerous chest infections, scans and reassurance that she was completely fine, she was rushed to QEQM with a suspected stroke, we found out only days later that she had two tumours on her brain one of which was significantly large which was affecting her speech. A few days after this after so much worry and nervousness as what this will mean for her health, and the next steps going forward, we were told that Michelle had 5 tumours, one on her left lung, one on her right lung which doctors had missed when they sent her for a scan 3 weeks earlier. 1 above her kidney, and two in her brain. This news completely turned her whole life upside down as well as her children’s.

After this we were told that it was stage 4, incurable however that she would be starting chemotherapy shortly, and possibly radiotherapy to try and extend her life so that she could still live for another few years l, and be at home with her children where she is happy. However Michelle was then left 4 weeks without any treatment, any promise of when the treatment will start and as her health began to decline the worry increased.

Only 10 weeks later where we are today Michelle has very limited time left and is now under the Pilgrims Hospice while at home around her children who love her very much. All she wants is for her children to be safe, the whole family are absolutely heartbroken watching their mother get more poorly with every passing day. They have all suffered so much.

Any donations big or small her whole family are so grateful for, it will help and support her family through the difficult times, paying for her funeral and trying to navigate their way financially though the unknown and worrying times ahead.

if we manage to reach the goal anything above will be donated to the pilgrims hospice
