A family in need. Support for the Leake's & Jess

Hello everyone,

My name is Jessica. My family and I recently moved to North Carolina. This has been a dream of ours for 10 years. We finally decided to take the leap this year after finding out that my Mother has several auto immune diseases that have caused her health to decline drastically. She quit working earlier this year. Which was a feat in itself. She has always worked hard, since 17 and it was hard to accept the toll it was putting on her body. She started having black outs, micro brain spikes that led to seizures, dizzy spells etc. It is unsafe for her to drive and so I help her as much as possible.  She has some good days but I've noticed her bad days get more frequent and severe.  She is going for disability but now that we are in NC she has to start over.

We dove in; remodeled our house and put it on the market. After searching and taking a lot of trips back and forth from SC to NC, we found a magical piece of property.  Yes, we knew it would take some work but seeing that my step dad is very handy and has a degree in historic preservation, we would be fine to remodel. The house passed Inspection . With minor things and things we were already aware of, we decided to make a bid.

We knew it would take some work but we were under the impression that it was at least livable.  That turned out to not be the case. When the seller came to get her belongings,  she left food in the trash and coffee still in the coffee maker. Dead mice under the bed, in the box springs, mice feces everywhere and stink bug infestations for at least 3 weeks. To find out there is mold and floors falling in. The exterminator even said it wouldn't be wise to have anyone with a low immune system, in there. We had no attachment to the house so we decided it needs to come down. We had a set amount of money left over for renovations but it won't cover everything that needs to be done, let a lone all the cost for having to rent and all of our bills. I'm not sure what we will do after December 26th but I'm hoping that a miracle will happen and we can get to really starting our lives here.

No amount is too small and we appreciate everyone that has taken the time to watch, read, share and donate. We plan on keeping y'all updated through the process and even though this is a big hurdle, I know there is a blessing coming from this. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
