Hello family, friends, and beautiful strangers. It kills me to be typing these words to you but I am reaching out to you with a broken heart asking for help.

My Mom, Katherine O'Brien, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cervical Cancer in early 2020. She was given a life expectancy of 5 years. As we are nearing the 3rd year in that diagnoses, we just found out she now has a tumor on her brain.

As you can imagine, the news was very hard on our entire family. The tears are still coming down my cheeks as I write this. We are all heartbroken.

My Dad has requested a 3 month leave from work to be with my Mom in this very difficult time. He was approved. However, we just found out it will be an unpaid leave. He works as a Supervisor at a local plant.

Through this entire diagnosis, my Mom has remained calm and positive. She has only reached out to friends and family for prayer, even still today.

In reality, she is making arrangements for her wishes after death should things turn for the worst quicker with the new news, in our already short time left.

In reality, there are weddings for her children(4) she will not get to attend, grandchildren(7) she will not get to see grow up, holidays she will not get to be at, family vacations she will not get to attend, a husband she will not get to grow old with.

I am asking for your help with their finances while my Dad is off. She has many more appointments, scans, and doctor visits to get to. She needs someone taking care of her.

We all want to spend as much time together as possible, creating as many memories, having as many family dinners, taking as many pictures, and having a Merry Christmas.

No one should have to choose between going to work to be able to financially support the one you love or staying home and losing everything to be able to take care of the one you love.
