A Family in Crisis: Help This Mom in Her Recovery

Hello, my name is Luz, and I am organising this fundraiser for an incredible family who needs our help during this challenging time.

Their Story

This family arrived in Australia 6.5 years ago from Colombia, seeking a better future. After living in Sydney for 5 years, they moved to Hobart, Tasmania, a year ago.

The mother, aged 34, has had four cesarean sections, making her most recent pregnancy high-risk. In January, she gave birth to her fourth child via an emergency C-section. While the baby was born healthy, the mother went into shock during the surgery and required three blood transfusions to stabilize.

In addition, during her recovery, doctors discovered a cystic lesion at the craniocervical junction, measuring 16x9x21 mm, which now requires urgent head surgery. This condition has caused severe vision problems, preventing her from taking care of herself and her children.

Current Situation

Due to her wife’s condition, the father has had to stop working as a removalist to care for her and their four young children:

They currently have no caseworker assigned, which is making it difficult to access essential services such as Centrelink, medical support, and housing.

Una familia en crisis: Ayudemos a esta mamá en su recuperación

Hola, mi nombre es Luz y estoy organizando esta recaudación para una familia increíble que necesita nuestra ayuda en este momento difícil.

Su historia

Esta familia llegó a Australia hace 6.5 años desde Colombia buscando un futuro mejor. Después de vivir en Sydney por 5 años, se mudaron a Hobart, Tasmania, hace un año.

La madre, de 34 años, ha tenido cuatro partos por cesárea, lo que hizo que su último embarazo fuera de alto riesgo. En enero, dio a luz a su cuarta hija mediante una cesárea de emergencia. Aunque el bebé nació sano, la madre entró en shock durante la cirugía y requirió tres transfusiones de sangre para estabilizarse.

Además, durante su recuperación, los médicos descubrieron una lesión quística en la base del cráneo (craniocervical junction), de 16x9x21 mm, que ahora requiere una cirugía de cabeza urgente. Esta condición ha causado graves problemas de visión, impidiéndole valerse por sí misma y cuidar de sus hijos.

La situación actual

Debido a la condición de su esposa, el padre ha tenido que dejar su trabajo como removalist para cuidarla a ella y a sus cuatro hijos pequeños:
