A family facing hard times

George and Karin Boedecker are facing very hard times.

My dad, George is 85, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s this last year and we are dealing with the challenges this disease brings. George and Karin have lived in Lyons, Colorado for the past 16 years, in a home that was promised to them for their lifetime.

Never in a million years did they expect to be facing homelessness in the next 3 weeks. They trusted someone they should not have and now need the communities help.

George served this country in the army as a young man, and he arrived to Boulder from New York to work for IBM in 1965. He raised his family here which was a blessing for the entire family.

George and Karin have spent the last 30 years dedicated to rescuing animals. Their hearts are big, and they have taken in and given wonderful lives to over 31 dogs & 14 cats, as well as 4 rescue horses that Karin love and cared for during their long lives They now have 5 senior dogs and 2 cats. This brings the huge challenge of finding a place they can relocate.

George’s life passion has been in fitness and he has been a fitness trainer specializing in people over 50 for the past 16 years. He’s developed life long friends this way and sadly had to retire from this when he got his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

They live on their fixed income and have no savings. They realize that living in Colorado is unrealistic because of the astronomic cost of living here so will be leaving their beloved Colorado to try to find affordable living in the south.

I am asking for any help you can give to raise funds for their moving expenses and for a small down payment to get into a home valued around the 100k mark.

We know times are tough for so many and it’s a vulnerable place for us to ask for donations.
