My my name is Joe Seppa from Maple Grove, Minnesota and I’m raising money for my late best friend and brother-in-arms Jason Brekke’s wife Kayla Brekke, and daughters Kassidy and Dottie. 1SG Jason T. Brekke was a hero that left us far too soon.  

In short, Jason was my best friend, brother-in-arms, and the greatest mentor that I have had in my life.

At just 42, Jason did not have thoughts of this outcome, nor did any of us.  We shouldn't be thinking about life ending this soon; however, we are all facing the reality that tomorrow is not promised to any of us.

Here is a an excerpt from Jason's Eulogy, which was by far, the hardest words that I have ever written or spoken in my life:

"Now, for the sake of the man we all loved unconditionally, it’s up to us to carry on the legacy of a hero. This will not be an easy task. Our fallen comrade has a family sitting here today that we must carry through a tragedy that is indescribable. We must band together and form the rock that Jason was to so many of us. If you are able, I ask all that are up to this task to please stand and show this family that you will support them today and every day moving forward."

This page will be the first of many efforts to support Kayla, Kassidy, and Dottie while they are navigating the most awful tragedy imaginable.  Jason retired after 20 years of devoted service at just 37 years old.  While still young, Jason chose not to elect for Military Life Insurance nor the Military Spousal benefit plan. Kayla has been a stay at home Mom for the past 10 years; consequently, this family needs us more than ever.  Kayla has already had to make the difficult decisions to sell vehicles, and get rid of anything with a payment.  As we all know, the mortgage payments keep coming and there is no income.
