Help Detroit Fire Dispatcher Dimetria Gilmore and Her Family...
After years of answering the call for others, Dimetria now needs our help.
Dimetria Gilmore has dedicated 24 years to serving others as an emergency room medical technician and 10 years as a Fire/EMS Dispatcher for the City of Detroit. Her life has been devoted to helping people through some of their most difficult moments. Now, she and her family are facing challenges no family should have to face alone.
On December 8, 2024, Dimetria was involved in a hit-and-run accident while on her way to work. Despite experiencing severe pain, she continued working to help cover staffing shortages. Her health struggles continued, and on January 29, 2025, she delivered her baby girl prematurely. Just weeks later, on February 21, she suffered a heart attack caused by a ruptured coronary artery. Her recovery has been long and difficult.
Today, Dimetria is doing everything she can to heal while caring for her four young children. Her husband is also facing serious health complications related to diabetes that have prevented him from driving and working as he normally would.
The family has exhausted their savings, maxed out their credit cards, and turned to community resources and food pantries to get by. Without long-term disability benefits to help bridge this difficult period, the financial strain has become overwhelming.
Those who know Dimetria know her as someone who gives generously to her community, often using her own money to help others. Asking for help is not easy for someone who has spent so much of her life being the helper.
Now, it’s our turn to help her.
The Thin Gold Line Foundation is launching this fundraiser through our Emergency Assistance Program to help Dimetria and her family navigate this incredibly difficult chapter. Our foundation will kickstart the campaign with a $500 donation, and we invite others to join us in providing relief, hope, and a little breathing room as Dimetria continues her recovery.
Every donation, no matter the amount, can help ease the burden of everyday expenses and help this family focus on what matters most: healing, caring for their children, and moving forward together.
She has spent years answering the call for others. Let's answer hers.
They answer your call. We answer theirs.
