Hi, and thank you for taking a moment to read this.
I’m a single father to two incredible teenagers: my son, who has cerebral palsy, and my daughter, who battles daily with her mental health and has a painful history of self-harm. It hasn’t been easy. The past couple of years have been one of the most difficult seasons of our lives.
We haven’t had a family holiday in years. Life has been filled with therapy appointments, school meetings, MANY sleepless nights, and silent prayers. My daughter’s mental health has taken a heavy toll, and I’ve had to take time off work just to keep things from falling apart. But in doing so, I’ve lost the income I would have used to give them something to look forward to this summer.
I managed to put down a very small £90 deposit for a 5-day all-inclusive holiday in Portugal for the three of us. The full amount is £1,700, and it’s due in about six weeks. I know it might seem like just a holiday, but for us, it’s a lifeline. A chance to breathe. To laugh. To remember what it’s like to just be a family.
My daughter often hears her friends talk about their trips abroad, flipping through photos and stories she quietly envies. My heart breaks every time she tells me about their adventures with a smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. As a father, I want so badly to give her a few days of peace, of joy, of lightness. I need that too.
I’m sharing this anonymously because I find it hard to ask for help. But I know that sometimes, the strongest thing you can do is admit you need support. If you can help, whether with a donation or simply by sharing this, please know it would mean the world to us.
Whatever you give will not only help fund a holiday, but it will also give a struggling family a rare moment of hope.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
