My name is Jason and I'm a father fighting for something incredibly important: the right to be a parent to my 7 year-old daughter, BRM. I'm currently involved in a crucial legal battle in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in Florida, a case that could potentially change fathers' rights laws in the state. even though I've raised her as her father from the time she was 6 months old married her mother and the birth father is dead and never had any

relationship with her, I am now faced with no rights and no say and no custody and no way to have any relationship with my daughter. this is just wrong. this is not the world we live in today there are many non-biological parents that raise children and get no legal rights.

BRM is my world. If you know her, then you know what a beautiful, kind, funny, and precious little girl she is. She deserves to have both of her parents actively involved in her life, and I'm determined to make that happen. Unfortunately, due to a difference of opinion on the importance of remaining in my child's life as the only father she has ever had or known, I am forced to use the courts.

The legal system is complex, and navigating it requires expert help. I've found an incredible team of appellate attorneys who believe in my case and are dedicated to fighting for my daughter and me. They see the potential for this case to not only reunite me with my daughter but also to create positive change for other step-parents in Florida facing similar challenges.
