I’m raising funds through Dylan’s Toy Chest to acquire and renovate a two-dwelling home in the Bronx and turn it into a one-year transition program for individuals experiencing homelessness.

This mission is deeply personal to me. I have spent more than twenty years working in affordable housing, and throughout my career I have worked directly with residents, families, employees, community organizations, and housing professionals. That experience has taught me about housing, management, compliance, construction, resident services, and operations, but more importantly, it has shown me that housing instability is not an abstract issue. It affects real people who need safety, opportunity, and someone willing to help them move forward.

My son’s question about helping people experiencing homelessness turned that awareness into a personal responsibility for our family. Since then, we have been building Dylan’s Toy Chest with purpose. What weighs on me most is knowing that many people are ready for a new beginning but may not have the stable home, guidance, or opportunity needed to take the next step.

The funds from this fundraiser will go toward purchasing and renovating the property so it can serve as a structured housing and rehabilitation program. The plan is to offer stable housing along with maintenance training, job-placement support, financial education, case management, and help transitioning to permanent housing. This is meant to be more than temporary relief. I want to help create a practical path toward stability and independence.

Now is the right time because the foundation for this work is already being built. Launching this fundraiser now allows community support to help move a prepared vision into action without unnecessary delay.

We hope to reach 20,000 people willing to give $5 each. This mission is powered by the people, for the people, and I believe real change can happen when a community comes together with shared purpose.
