A Climb for Kenya!

Hello! Me, Hannah Roberts and my partner, Oliver Hayward are two undergraduate students studying at Aberystwyth University. We are from North Wales and have had the opportunity to fundraise for an essential cause we believe is worth fighting for.

In August 2025 at just 19 years old, we will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in support of Dig Deep; a non profit, student founded charity whose mission is to collaborate with the Kenyan government, local businesses and communities to transform access to vital services for the near 1 million people of Bomet County.

The county is located in the Rift Valley region of Kenya where 2 out of 3 people do not have access to clean water, along with children not having access to basic hygiene education. Not to mention over half of the population not having access to safe toilets.

We believe everyone has the fundamental right to clean water, safe toilets and good hygiene through the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goal 6.

Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania, Africa is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. We will be hiking to the dormant volcano's Uhuru Peak, 5895m above sea level, along the Machame Route which will take around 6 days to complete. Throughout our time hiking, we will encounter diverse landscapes including rainforests, moorland, semi and alpine desert before we reach the glacial caps.

The money we raise will be used to cover internal and external costs, with the majority going to Dip Deep. The donations will be used to save lives, improve education, empower females and young girls along with strengthening livelihoods within Bomet County of Kenya.
