An update on court proceedings to force the sale of Nellie's family home.
The deadline is now only a few weeks away. If the funds are not in place by 20th July, Nellie will be (involuntarily) moved to a HSE nursing home while Anita and the children are placed in emergency accomodation. Nellie suffers with multiple physical and mental health issues she has only ever lived in this home she would suffer and deteriorate rapidly should she have to part from Anita and especially the children.
Anita cares for Nellie everyday and has done so since 2006 when Nellie's parents passed away. Nellie has been with Anita from her oldest son Francis to her youngest and the kids would be lost without Nellie as would she without them she wouldnt benefit without them and Anita.
This family home have deep roots in the community of Bohermore. Nellie's parents were among the first generation of Galway Travellers to settle and become homeowners in the locality. Their children grew up here as part of the Bohermore community and owning property that their children would inheirit was a huge source of pride.
The family and wider community are coming together over the next few weeks to organise fundraisers, events and advice regarding accessing loans. We will share details once plans are confirmed.
If anyone can donate, organise, share or support in anyway at all, it would mean a great deal to Nellie and family. The community of Bohermore would be heartbroken to see this family uprooted and separated, spread across the city while yet another house on the terrace is sold to private landlords for short term lets.
Right now, every bit of support genuinely matters.
Please keep an eye on this page for further updates and community fundraising events.
