Hello, I’m Michella Mansilla. I was born in Lima, Peru, and am a proud USC graduate. Every year, my family and I make the trip back to our home country to give back to the community that has shaped us.
This holiday season, I’m reaching out to support the elderly community in partnership with Father Pio, priest of La Parroquia San Pedro de Chorrillos in Lima, Peru. This community is home to over 300 elderly citizens living in extreme poverty, many of whom also suffer from disabilities. These individuals face daily struggles with food insecurity and lack of access to basic necessities, including running water. These are people who have spent their lives giving to their families and communities, and now they are alone, struggling to make ends meet.
For the past three years, my family and I have been providing food baskets and organizing a Christmas dinner to help ease their burden during the holidays. This aid has made a huge difference, helping alleviate some of the stress and worry that comes with not having enough to eat during the holidays. This year, we hope to expand our efforts and provide assistance to 120 elderly people who are in desperate need of support.
Your donation will directly help provide:
• Holiday Food Baskets: For just $20, you can provide a food necessity basket, ensuring an elderly person has the essential groceries to share with their family during the holidays.
• Christmas Dinner: A donation of $5 will cover one plate of food, giving an elderly individual a warm, nourishing meal during our Christmas dinner.
Any additional funds raised beyond our goal will go towards providing wheelchairs ($150 each) and walkers ($75 each) for elderly individuals facing disabilities and mobility challenges.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will have a direct impact in making their holiday season brighter and less stressful. This meal and supplies will not only nourish them physically, but it will offer them a chance to come together as a community, share a meal, and experience the joy of togetherness. For these elderly men and women, this gathering is a reminder that they are not forgotten. Your support, in any amount, will help us continue our mission of giving back to those who need it most. Donations will be accepted until December 20th, 2024.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping us bring hope, joy, and support to the elderly community in Lima this Christmas.
