As many people already know, Marcelo and I have had a very long and stressful infertility journey (4 years now). About two and half years ago we reached our goal of getting pregnant but unfortunately lost this baby very early on.  At the time, we were fortunate enough to have coverage and only paid 30% of the cost, which was still a struggle but we managed. As a teacher, I had pretty decent coverage. About two years ago, I transitioned into a new position in which my new health insurance does not cover any infertility related procedures whatsoever (no labs, no meds, nothing). 
Due to our long history of infertility (6 rounds of IUI with a doctor at NYU), we have turned to the help of a fertility doctor Dr. Damien at Damien Fertility Partners who was highly recommended. Dr. Damien was able to diagnosis me with endometriosis as well as having fibroids in the first 15 minutes of our visit. This is the importance of getting a second opinion. The great news is that I had surgery last July and Dr. Damien was able to prepare my body for a last chance at IUI but now with a greater chance of success. We have saved up enough to pay for the medication which is $2500 but are struggling with the cost of $1750 for the actual procedure. This wouldn't be such a big deal if I wasn't turning 39 this July but as you know, time is of the essence when attempting to create life. This may in fact be our last chance for our baby.
