A Bright Future After Tragic Loss

Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Jessica (Joyce) Mills, a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and friend. Jessica faced her cancer diagnosis with incredible resilience and grace. She demonstrated unwavering spirit, courage, and a profound strength that inspired everyone around her. Her determination to live life fully and her ability to find moments of joy and love, even in the toughest times, were truly remarkable. At the young age of 44, she leaves behind her husband Rafael, and their precious three-year-old son, Benjamin, who is autistic and will need ongoing community support to thrive.

Jessica was a beacon of strength, love, and just plain sparkle. Despite metastatic breast cancer, she remained dedicated to providing the best care and support for Benji -- organizing appointments and support for him even from her hospital bed. Her unwavering spirit and love for her son were evident to all who knew her. She lit up whenever he was near and she stayed in this world for as long as possible in order to spend as much time as she could with him, and her loved ones.

Benji is a bright, joyful, and energetic child who requires specialized care and resources to meet his unique needs. As a community, we can come together to help Rafa and Benji, ensuring he has access to the therapies, education, and support he needs to flourish.

Your generous contributions will go directly towards specialized therapies (for example speech / language, occupational, coaching); educational resources and programs; and daily living needs and care.

In lieu of flowers to her celebration of life, or travel to get there given her expansive global network of friends, Jessica has said she would appreciate a little extra to help Rafael and Benji through these tough times and the years to come. Let's honour Jessica's memory by ensuring her beloved son has the support he needs to grow and succeed.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.

Her light and sparkle continue to shine brightly.
