Our beloved friend and Computacenter colleague Carol who's family are in tragic circumstances need our support.

We have created a step challenge with a goal of 2,000,000 steps to be completed in February!

Now a bit about Carol and Jason.

Since 2020 they have had a continuous stream of bad luck that has affected their health and finances. The events of the last few years would have broken most families apart but not these two, their resilience in the face of such adversity is nothing short of inspirational. Between them they've had 3 work redundancies due to the impact of covid along with serious health diagnosis which between them include, arthritis, atrial fibrillation, ectopic heartbeat, hole in the heart, slipped disc and most recently an ocular tumour and triple negative breast cancer resulting in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy.

These two people who have worked every day of their lives to support their family are not eligible for most benefits and have never asked anyone for anything before. They are proud, hardworking people who have always supported themselves but now due to no fault of their own, neither of them know when they will be able to return to work. I cannot bear the thought of them losing everything they have worked so hard for.

If anything describes Carol, it's the words her son used when asked who is his idol...

"My idol is my mum, and there are no words grand enough to fully capture just how extraordinary she is. Life has thrown unimaginable challenges her way—she's faced with a breast cancer diagnosis, was made redundant during the pandemic, and yet, despite it all, she emerged stronger. Her resilience is nothing short of inspiring. Through every hardship, she always kept her priorities straight: us, her children. She created a safe, loving environment where I knew I could be my authentic self, no matter what.

My mum's unconditional love and support gave me the courage to walk through life with confidence and pride. She made sure that, despite the struggles she faced, my brother and I had the best life we could. I know that if I’d had any other mother, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. She encouraged every passion I had, never once questioning my dreams or holding me back.

In fact, she’s the reason I am as bold and authentic as I am—her infectious laughter and ability to light up any room shaped me in more ways than she knows. She’s the kind of person who, when you look over at a group, is the one causing the hysterics, making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. My mum has always been the light of every room she enters, and she has shown me how powerful it is to be resilient.

She is, without a doubt, the complete embodiment of who I strive to be when I grow older—a person who is kind, authentic, resilient, and so full of life that everyone around them feels better for it. To me, she is not just a mother, but a best friend, a mentor, and the most incredible role model. Through all of her struggles, she taught me that love, laughter, and joy are the greatest forces for good. She is my heart, my inspiration, and my everything"

I know times are really tough at the moment and finances are tight for most people but please help me to support Carol & Jason to ensure they can keep a roof over their heads and food on the table until they can return to work.

I intend to fund raise with my colleagues and friends to raise some cash through sponsoring but I wanted to kick off the new year with a bit of hope for them by asking all my lovely friends and family for donations. I hope you also feel they deserve a little bit of light in what is a very dark time.
