A Bike for Bruce

Every morning Bruce can be found in Serra Mesa waving and blowing kisses to passersby! He has been doing this for over 30 years... just because! His positive energy spreads joy throughout the neighborhood & the world!
On April 13th, 2018, I got the courage to pull over to meet this special guy with the sweet smile and kind eyes. I was so moved by his simple effort to spread joy that I started sharing about him on my Facebook page. That’s when ‘Honk for Bruce’ was born. I wanted everybody to know his name. There are currently over 900 BFFs (Bruce Friends Forever) from 10 different countries following Honk for Bruce on Facebook and Instagram.
While he is a community treasure, his joy is shared by people who drive by from all over the county and go out of their way to wave, honk, and chat with Bruce. COVID-19 has not slowed him down. Still, each weekday morning, he heads out to the corner of Sandrock & Glenhaven to wave at those passing by, and giving a good morning “beep-beep,” or a “hey baby!” rain or shine. He considers this his ‘job’ and he loves every minute of it!
As a small gesture of how much we appreciate him, we are raising money to present Bruce with an adult trike (with a helmet and horn, of course!) so that he can enjoy a bike ride around the neighborhood with friends. Thanks for all of your support. Bruce is the epitome of kindness and we just want him to know how much he’s cherished & valued. He makes a difference in the world. If any extra money is raised, 100% will go to Bruce and whatever else he might need or want.
