Keep A Baltimore Family Together in Their Home

I am Damia and I am raising money to make necessary plumbing repairs and pay off the HUGE water bill that threatens to take this house away from the Baltimore family that has lived in this house for generations.

My grandparents bought this dream house in December 1964 for $11,000.

It provided a family home for generations, including 3 daughters, 3 grandchildren, and others in the family. Now I live here with my daughter and her child and two other other family members.

The home has seen the happiness of a daughter’s college graduation and the delight of that same daughter’s reception after her wedding. Those newlyweds came to own the house, and the home hosted their grandchildren’s high school graduation parties and countless holiday get togethers.

I stayed here as a child. I remember tasting grapefruit and teaspoons of coffee in the morning with my grandparents. I guided my uncle, who was blind, on backyard walks, and I went out on car rides with my aunt just because she wanted to spend time with me after she spent a long day at work. They corrected me, too - I always left my toys all over the place.

My aunt and uncle taught me, the teenage Damia, life lessons and work skills after my grandparents had past on. My aunt worked as a social worker and both my aunt and uncle volunteered at their church. My aunt would bring a lot of her work home with her and. I was honored when

she asked me with the big church charity event she organized every year until she got ill and passed away in October, 2020.

The house has also seen sadness and loss with the passing of my grandparents, uncle, and aunt. My aunt did not have much money to do repairs on the house. In particular, the plumbing is in bad shape and plumbing leaks have led to a huge water bill - now over $8000. The water bill needs to be paid before ownership of the home can be settled for the next generation. I just don't have the money to pay it off and fix the leaks.
