Every child deserves to begin the school year feeling prepared, confident, and excited to learn. Last year, our Back to School initiative brought together friends, clients and community members to provide school supplies to more than 80 children in the Pancho Mateo community of Montellano. The response was incredible, and thanks to the generosity of many people, we made a meaningful difference. At the same time, the experience showed us just how great the need truly is. As we distributed supplies, additional children arrived hoping to receive support and unfortunately we did not have enough for everyone. It was a heartbreaking reminder that there are many more families who could benefit from a helping hand. That is why this year, our goal is to expand the initiative and reach even more children - but we can only do that with the support of our community. This year, we want to do even more.

Our Goal for 2026

For our 2026 Back to School Drive, we are expanding our efforts to reach children in three different communities across the North Coast. Our goal is to provide not only essential school supplies, but also a new backpack filled with the items children need to start the school year ready to succeed.

The Communities We Hope to Support:

(1) Cabarete - Through the support of Coral School, a nonprofit school serving local families, we will identify children from:

- Callejón de la Loma

- La Ciénaga

The teachers and staff at Coral School know the families personally and are helping us ensure that our support reaches the children who need it most.

(2) Pancho Mateo (Montellano)

We will once again support children in the Pancho Mateo community in Montellano, with the help and guidance of one of our key community contacts in the area.

(3) Sosúa

Our efforts in Sosúa will focus on neighborhoods including:

- Sosúa Abajo

- Maranatha

- Bella Vista

With your support, each child will receive a backpack filled with the essential school supplies needed to start the new academic year prepared and confident. These simple items can make a huge difference for families who are doing their best to prepare their children for the new academic year.

How Many Children Can We Help?

The number of children we can support depends entirely on the amount of donations we receive. RealtorDR has committed to matching donations dollar for dollar, up to US$ 4,000, which means every contribution will have an even greater impact. We estimate that it will cost approximately US$ 50 per child to provide a backpack filled with essential school supplies. Our goal is to support as many children as possible across Cabarete, Montellano and Sosúa. The more donations we receive, the more children we can help start the school year prepared and confident.

Distribution Date:

Public schools in the Dominican Republic are expected to begin classes in mid-August. Our goal is to complete the supply distribution by Friday 7th August, ensuring families have everything they need before the school year begins.

This year’s Back to School Drive is being organized by Bernisa, Carinne, Kat and Hennah. Together, we are coordinating donations, identifying families and organizing distribution to ensure that every contribution has a direct impact.
