Nalia DeFreitas. 15 year old currently fighting Cancer
Donation protected
Hi my name is Keisha and I am trying to raise funds for my little cousin Nalia who is 15 years old.
Nalia is a fun loving, kind, sassy but sweet typical teenage girl who enjoys doing her hair having her nails done reading and spending time with friends. Nalia enjoys school and is part of a netball team and enjoyed to take part in sports and keeping active; coming from a strong gymnastics background. She also has a great group of friends and enjoys to spend time with her family and is close to her cousins. Nalia is also an amazing protective big sister to two younger brothers, Ellis 12 and Jude who will be 2 on his next birthday.
Unfortunately Nalia was sadly and very recently diagnosed with Cancer and is currently undergoing Chemotherapy. After finding an abscess and having it removed, a second lump was found a couple of weeks later and tested and sadly came back cancerous. The tumour is named Sarcoma. This has been a shock to our whole family but especially to her parents (my uncle and his wife), and of course Nalia herself.
As you can imagine for a 15 year old girl this is a lot to take on mentally and terrifying to have to go through before your life has even really started. This has put a massive strain on her studies as she is in her last year of school and due to do her GCSEs next year. Nalia has had to put a hold on so many plans and dreams she has hoped for her life to this point.
My hope in creating this page is to hopefully raise some money in the hope that Nalia can be as comfortable as possible while she undergoes treatments and fights to beat Cancer. Nalia is spending a lot of time at the hospital and as a result of this and the effects of chemo she is unable to attend school. It would be cool if we could raise enough for a tutor to be considered to push her through this last year for her main subjects. Everything is also so expensive at this time and we all struggle. And as unexpected as this was to her parents so are the expenses and costs that come with it. The regular trips to the hospital that is an hour from home each way, to wanting decent meals whilst staying days at a time in the hospital while undergoing treatment. Nalia has recently lost her hair in the last couple days and we are looking at charities for children with cancer who make and donate wigs however as you can understand this takes time. If we do really well it would be lovely to have some extra to make up for her 16th birthday that will be missed this year, October 31st as her fight is jus starting. But she is strong and although money isn’t everything, I think the kindness it shows from complete strangers to donate to her would not only help in a massive way financially, but also give her a feeling of support and empowerment that could keep her spirit high and her belief strong while she continues her fight.
Thank you to anyone who donates. Big or small it makes a difference and I really appreciate you taking the time to read to this point and helping to uplift my little cousin.
If you can’t donate that’s fine thank you for reading still and please maybe repost or share in the hope that someone else might. Please also all keep her in your prayers because as she truly is amazing! And has a bright future ahead of her xx
