A 10-Year Journey: Help Perry Idyll Record His Debut Album

Hi, I’m Perry Idyll. I'm a 30-year-old singer-songwriter, and this is my story.

Music has been my life since I was 8. I started with piano, picked up guitar at 12, found my voice at 15, and wrote my first song a year later. By 18, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to win a Grammy more than anything. I went on to earn a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz Guitar from The University of Tennessee before moving to Los Angeles to chase that dream.

Then life happened.

A messy breakup sent me into a spiral. My old friend Depression came to visit, and that combined with a crippling insecurity from compulsive outward comparison brought me to my knees in a dark quarter-life crisis.

So I decided to sell everything I owned (except my guitar of course) and escaped to a little island off the Gulf of Thailand.

For the next 2 years, I let go of my music ambitions, realizing my ego was too wrapped up in validation from others. I gave up the dream I’d held onto for so long and turned inward, spending my days immersed in meditation, yoga, and qigong.

But slowly, music found its way back into my life.

Over the next 3 years on the island, I rediscovered the reason why I fell in love with music in the first place—the simple, beautiful therapy of channeling my emotions and experiences into living, breathing songs.

This time, however, I made sure to keep my intentions pure. No longer chasing fame, I dove back into performing at live events again, connecting with other artists, and reveling in the heartfelt feedback I always received when I shared my gift—reminding me how powerful and important music truly is.

Now, at 30, I see how fast time flies. And I just can’t let another 10 years slip by without giving music my all. It’s become painstakingly clear that if I don’t pursue my life's passion now, I never will—and nothing would fill me with more regret looking back on my life from 80.

So, I’m taking action to make this dream a reality.

But I need your help...

Producing and marketing an album is expensive, and right now, I simply can’t afford it. That’s why I’m asking—with immense humility and gratitude—for your support. Every contribution, no matter how small, will add up and go a very long way in bringing this project to life.

I've written well over 50 songs and my goal is to turn 13 of them into a full professionally produced album:

So just to create the album will cost a low-end projection of $27,000. But the process of actually getting it to see the light of day is an entirely separate journey...

All of these numbers are low-end projections, and even still, a 6-month marketing campaign while playing as many shows as I can with my band will still cost at least $23,000.

Which is why I'm asking for $50,000. It's not a small amount of money, and it's definitely far more than I can save on my own at this point in my life...

But it's not too big for a few thousand people coming together with whatever money they are able to share.

Music is my biggest passion in life, and recording an album—and performing it live with a band!—is my dream of all dreams.
