Hello my Yukon family, I hope you are well today.
I must first say, this is not easy for me to ask for help... but I must put that aside, so I can continue to dedicate my life to helping others through the Yukon Helpers Network.
Today, I am reaching out to you of my own need; currently, I'm in the works of starting a social enterprise - Yukon Helpers Network - and I'm starting from the bottom, up. As of this date, I have volunteered six incredibly fulfilling months of my time, from the beginning of the group. (Recently I have been reminded that I still haven't taken a day off! Oops. Lol! Hehehe!)
This being said, I have been incredibly lucky to have the support of my bestfriend/husband the entire time. Without him, I wouldn't have been able to be as flexible as I am with my time, or have the capacity to help others, like I can. Sure, he's supported our family financially, but there is SO MUCH more that he has supported than just money. He supports my passion, my energy, and my drive to help. He has never questioned my over the top ideas, projects, or fundraisers.
At one point when, I was having a bad day and I expressed to him that I was sorry that I wasn't bringing home money for our household, and that I felt guilty I couldn't work a 9-5 job, like the 'average' individual. He replied, "But you are making money, my love, you are making many people rich in many different ways than just money." I cried, tears of joy of course. I couldn't believe how blessed I was to have my husband support me so selflessly. Without him, I wouldn't have been capable of building and maintaining this network.
My dream is to have this group become an automatic hub for people seeking help, or people looking to give help. I am working to secure funding to build an enterprise that fills the gaps in so many departments of our society. Eventually it is my goal to hire others who can assist with the communication piece, and ensure that someone is available through our network at all times.
The money raised through this fundraiser will be used to fund things like start up costs, a phone line, website development, maintenance, and percentages needed to qualify for funding through a specific government department.
Our goal is to be a for-profit - for the people. Essentially, we will be run like a non-profit, but with less restrictions on mandates, and more flexibility in terms of how we can spend our money to help others.
I'm not sure if I can even express how grateful I am to all of you, for your on-going support, daily messages, and volunteered time, that you dedicate to this network too!
Every single day on our network, someone makes my heart flutter... or my jaw drop... or my eyes well up....and it's so incredible to see how our members are willing to go over and above for our community so selflessly, and the positive effect that it has on those who need it. It truly reminds me why the Yukon is so special.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for your support in these endeavors. I can't wait to show you what's happening next for our community.
From my heart,
