In Youngstown, Ohio, our youth face tough challenges—underfunded schools, limited opportunities, and rising poverty. But we believe there's a powerful way to engage them and ignite their passion for learning: through the exciting world of Radio Control (RC) vehicles.
The Youngstown RC Club is dedicated to offering local kids hands-on learning experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). By building and flying RC vehicles, students gain real-world problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork, preparing them for future careers in fields like engineering and microelectronics.
We’re launching this GoFundMe to raise $15,000 to cover startup costs for our non-profit. Your support will help fund essential equipment, workshops, and community events that make STEAM education fun and accessible for all. With your help, we can transform lives, giving kids a chance to dream big and reach their full potential.
Join us in creating opportunities and a brighter future for the youth of Youngstown!
As a nonprofit startup focused on providing STEM education, our equipment needs are centered around having enough remote control cars, planes, and boats for students to learn with. We plan to purchase the following key equipment and tools:
- 10 remote control cars - These 1/10 scale hobby-grade RC cars will allow students to learn about vehicle design and mechanics.
- 5 remote control planes - These beginner RC planes will let students explore aerodynamics and flight principles.
- 3 remote control boats - RC boats that can float and be controlled remotely for students to study buoyancy.
- Chargers and batteries - Rechargeable LiPo batteries and compatible smart chargers to power the RC vehicles.
- Spare parts - Extra tires, propellers, connectors, gears, and hardware for repairs and tinkering.
- Toolkit - Wrenches, hex drivers, wire cutters, and other essential tools for working on the RC vehicles.
By starting with this versatile beginner-friendly equipment, we will have key assets to deliver engaging hands-on STEM programs for youth in our community.
We have allocated $5,000 from our startup budget for the initial equipment purchases. Ongoing equipment costs will be covered through donations and any program fees charged to participants. By buying durable hobby-grade RC products and parts in bulk from wholesale distributors, we will maximize the value of our limited equipment budget.
