Help a single mother and Disabled Grandma Get Her Car Fixed and Keep Caring for Her Family

Hello friends, family, and kind strangers,

My name is Tammy and I’m a senior living in Texas along with my daughter Joy and granddaughter Hope. I am doing my very best to care for my family despite serious medical issues. I’m disabled and unable to work due to chronic health problems that affect my mobility and strength. But I stay strong every day as I care full-time for my precious granddaughter, who is only 8 years old.

Right now, we’re facing an incredibly tough situation. Our only vehicle, a 2009 Mercedes, completely broke down 7 weeks ago. We don’t have a working car, and it’s making everyday survival almost impossible.

We live in a small town with limited public transportation, no foreign car mechanics nearby, and everything, from the laundromat to the grocery store to my granddaughter’s appointments, requires a car. We’ve had to rely on expensive rides we can’t afford or go without.

When we took the car to a local mechanic, he found oil leaking onto the starter, and the engine isn’t turning over at all. He suspects a protection mechanism might have shut it off to prevent further damage…but without proper diagnostics, we won’t know for sure. The transmission was already going out, so we know that repair alone is expensive.

Our only hope is a foreign auto mechanic in the next town over. But the earliest appointment is July 16, and just getting the car towed that far is going to cost hundreds of dollars. We’re still paying off this car for the next 3 years and cannot afford a new vehicle or a major repair on our own. We’ve tried getting help through loans, but were denied because the car has no trade-in value.
