Walking the Thames for Rwanda: Building Bridges, Connecting Communities
Our Challenge
We're embarking on a marathon 200km journey, walking the River Thames from Oxford to central London. The Knight Architects team will tackle this challenge over eight legs, each approximately 25km long, pushing ourselves to make a difference in Rwanda.
Why We're Walking
Every step we take along the Thames helps build bridges in Rwanda—literally. We're raising funds for Bridges to Prosperity, an incredible organisation that builds footbridges in rural communities, connecting people to life-changing services and opportunities.
The Impact
When rivers swell during rainy seasons in Rwanda, entire communities can be cut off from:
- Schools and education
- Healthcare facilities
- Markets and economic opportunities
- Essential government services
A single footbridge can transform thousands of lives, providing year-round safe access to these critical resources. By supporting our walk, you're helping build these vital connections.
Where Your Money Goes
Your generous donations will fund the intrepid Knight Architects team of Anthea, Arianna, Simon and Tom B as they head to Rwanda later this year to help build a life-changing bridge. Your contributions will cover travel essentials including vaccinations and medical preparations, visa fees, flights to Rwanda and essential bridge-building tools and equipment.
Our Journey
We'll be documenting every blister, stunning riverside view, and finish line along our 200km Thames walk. Follow our progress here and on social media as we make our way from the peaceful meadows of Oxford to the bustling heart of London, taking in the wide variety of bridges along the route.
How to Support:
