Our Mission:
At VTRN RESET CIC, we empower service leavers and veterans who are suffering from mental health crisis, transition related issues and lack of vision to reclaim their lives and self-actualise. We achieve this through our Joint Service Partnership Model, which at its core is an intensive 10-day retreat designed by a global team of experts in psychotherapy, neuroscience, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, nutritional science, and physical and somatic therapy. Veterans transformative journey is supported by a clear vision and ongoing personal development plan, ensuring their brighter, more fulfilling future.

About Us:
We adopt a candidate-up approach to deliver the world's finest mental health and self-development programme. Our core management team, comprising high-caliber experts in psychotherapy and business transformation, corporate networking, PR and marketing, and the ministry of defence, combined with a board of advisors featuring industry-leading expertise in mental health, top executives from NHS, public and private sectors, and the ministry of defence, ensures a comprehensive strategy to fulfill our mission, delivering both expertise and real-world value.

1. Why – Poor mental health in veterans. The rate of PTSD and transition related mental health issues is higher among veterans than the general public. This, along with a range of mental health issues related to the transition from military life, has resulted in a rising number of veterans struggling with mental health problems, despite the end of combat operations. In the last decade the number of veterans seeking help, particularly those who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq, has increased 97% with more than 2,000 new veterans seeking help each year.

2. Why – Poor access to mental health services. Access to professional help is becoming problematic, making the situation even more challenging. The UK has nearly 2,000 military charities, with around half of them being specialised in mental health, but a lack of a coordinated UK programme to effectively support veterans with PTSD recovery is a significant problem. This is primarily caused by insufficient mental health services to meet the demand, inadequate funding, and a fragmented regional approach. This places a significant strain on mental health services. The majority of families are not included in the treatment process.

3. Why – The cost of mental health. National mental health problems cost the UK economy at least £118bn a year, equating to 5% of the UK GDP. The financial cost of prolonged treatment is staggering and can be greatly reduced by implementing a comprehensive, coordinated national programme that effectively supports veterans through their PTSD recovery journey.

How - Joint Service Model

4. What - Joint Service Empowerment Model. VTRN Reset CIC has developed a Joint Service Model programme to address the unique needs of service leavers and veterans suffering from PTSD and mental health conditions. This programme is designed to be a comprehensive and cutting-edge approach to treating PTSD, using a 10-day retreat as its core component. The Joint Service Model brings together the highest calibre experts from around the World in the fields of psychotherapy, neuroscience and nutrition. The model involves extensive partnerships including military associations, non-profit organisations, corporations, and government agencies at each stage

6. What does success look like? Success in our programme can be defined as the transformation of veterans affected by PTSD into functional and thriving members of society. This transformation is achieved through the provision of essential tools and resources to manage their trauma and regain control of their lives. Our programme prioritises the development of coping skills, resilience building, and confidence-boosting to empower individuals and promote their overall well-being. The success of our programme is evidenced by individuals who have risen above their trauma and become confident, resilient members of their communities. These individuals possess a strong understanding of their condition, are involved in the decision-making process of their care, and exhibit healthy behaviors and a higher quality of life. In short, success in our programme is characterised by empowered individuals who are equipped with the skills and resources to lead fulfilling lives filled with purpose and meaning.

7. Outcome Measurement. VTRN RESET is proud to partner with Regent University London and King's College. The King’s Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR), the leading civilian UK centre of excellence for Armed Forces Community research, will assess the impact of our programme on candidate well-being. This comprehensive evaluation will gather data on each candidate's progress before and after participating in the programme. The assessment will focus on evaluating the severity of PTSD and other mental health disorders and measuring the level of candidate empowerment. After analysis, the results will be published by the university. This report will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of our programme and will be used for our continued development.

8. Who – The Team. The co-founders and Directors are Gelareh Darvish, Adam Stirling, Steve Wall and Maryna Kalna who have diverse backgrounds and expertise in the military, psychotherapy, business management and PR and marketing making them well-equipped to provide a comprehensive and effective approach to treating PTSD in veterans. Their passion for helping veterans suffering from PTSD, combined with their personal experiences, make them ideal leaders to create a life-changing programme.

9. Who - Fujitsu (Business Process Development). VTRN RESET is partnered with Fujitsu to design, develop and maintain our business management system and processes.

10. When? We aim to deliver the first pilot retreat on 1st April 2024. After 3 consecutive pilot retreats, we aim to move into the business as usual phase, operating 10 retreats per year in year 1.

Help us to fund the first 3 retreats in order for Regents University London and Kings College London to produce outcome measuring reports. These reports will be utilised to refine our service and to assist us in procuring long-term funding.
