Support my volunteer trip to Kibera!
I have been given the exciting opportunity to volunteer this summer at the Kibera School for Girls in Nairobi's Kibera Slum in Kenya. Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) has developed an innovative, community driven model to combat inter-generational cycles of poverty and gender inequality in Nairobi's Kibera slum, the largest slum in Africa.
I have a fundraising goal of $5,500 which will help pay for airfare, room and board, immunizations, and a minimum $1,000 donation to the school. Please consider donating to help me reach my goal! Every penny helps!

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SHOFCO AND KSG:
Through the Shining Hope Community Center, Johanna Justin-Jinich Clinc and a variety of additional community programs, SHOFCO links free schools for girls to accessible community-wide services that address severe local deficits in health care, education, sanitation, nutrition, and computer/literacy training. By investing in health and economic success through a school for girls, SHOFCO demonstrates that educating women benefits the whole community, cultivating a community ethos that makes women respected members of society. The future of women in Kibera and similarly impoverished and patriarchal environments depends on concrete, integrated links between education and community elevation.
