Help Manga Artist Aja & Mom Gina Recover from EatonFire

Donation protected
My name is Gina Ann Huckaby. On January 8. 2025, my borderline autistic daughter, Aja Burwell, my mother, Ann Huckaby, and I faced the horrific trauma of the Eaton Fire and were evacuated. Please understand, I’m writing this because no one else really will. There’s no others to write. The story is long, but true.

While I was able to call the fire department after seeing a video of my moms apartment building burning 15 feet from our building and upon our arrival after calling the Fire Dept where I begged for coverage as there was none  watching fire inch closer to our building of 27 units and 39 years of memories potentially going out with our hearts having to recover (building built 1986 and my mom lived there that long).  By God’s grace we made it there because we were in my new roach infested, no heat new apartment in Los Angeles which I’d had no idea my place was like that and not up to code on Jan 2, 2025. We were sent a video as they made it out while I was already in Los Angeles, at my new no heat, roach infested apartment with no closet and a 12 by 6 bedroom Anyway, we made it to the apartment in Altadena to give them the keys and show them the driveway entrance. four water drops later, . . 1 water tanker with 4 fire trucks,  We are totally grateful to the firefighters however, though my mom is now housed and the plan was for us everyone to go back to Altadena.  Turns out, that won’t happen. The building is lead and asbestos filled, so everyone is now in different places, Aja and I who happens to be a highly gifted Monga Artist is with me in Los Angeles and the Health Department has been called due to the infestation so we will be housed elsewhere for the next. 21 days!  This is a nightmare but at least my mom at 83 years of age is housed.  All of my daughters books are destroyed, my property was temporarily at my moms and it has been thrown out, rugs, clothes, m all the basics I had to live are gone. so now, Though I need to rest, I can’t. I need to work to live and I have nothing to make it comfortable except we sleep in the same full sized bed. I don’t know my way around Los Angeles, I have no furniture, no car to make money for Uber part time and health issues since fires and before. I have a aching lung pain which is being tested and my daughter cries each day as the place she lived and found peace for years is now out of her reach. And I ran out of funds helping my family. My mom, at 83 years of age, was in shock as were we so I had to bring my daughter with me which neither of us were quite ready for. I have to tend to my health (hypertension,  heart issue, malignant hypertension and onset of left lung pain from smoke inhalation from the fire and entire mouth reconstruction) but I must take care of her. There were high toxin levels found inside the complex walls, so no one is allowed to go back to the place we called home for a year or more, maybe longer. It’s all so hard to take and we’ve lost so much. I lost clothing, shoes, televisions and I was going to . However, I’ve had to utilize whatever I could to help. I rented a car to get my mom back and forth during hotel stays,  My daughter, known by her DeviantART handle as XfangheartX, is trying to create a web comic and doesn’t have the necessary supplies and is also struggling with the change due to her autism spectrum This has hampered my work capabilities and my health, both physical and mental. Also,  Our original way of life is gone. Los Angeles is nothing like Altadena. Altadena is a strong community and it pains me to see the town I grew up in has been decimated by the fire. It was and will always be one of the mainstays in my heart. We humbly ask that you help us in this dire time of need and help us recover so that someday, maybe not soon, but in the nearest possible future, that we will be able to have some semblance of normalcy. I thank you for any help that you can give. We would be blessed by any contribution you are able to give. God bless you.
