Hey everyone! Thank you so much for looking at my GoFundMe and I hope you will read my story!
When I was younger my mum always said that one day I would go and do missionary or voluntary work, but I never really thought much of it. As an adult I always had it in the back of my mind that I would go somewhere to help, I just didn’t know when or where.
Earlier this year I had a moment of complete clarity. I suddenly knew that I would be going to Uganda next year. I told my fiancée Kirsty and she was confused, asking who I was going with and how I was planning to get there. I didn’t have any of those answers, I just knew in my heart that I was going.
After a lot of research I got in touch with Abaana to ask how I could get involved. They told me to fill in a form to be kept up to date with future trips. A few weeks later, while Kirsty and I were getting ready to go to church, I saw a post from Abaana about the Umoja 26 Team. The information night for it was actually being held at our church that week. It felt like a clear sign from God that this was the path I was meant to follow.
Since then I’ve met the team leaders and learned about the work we’ll be doing in Uganda. We’ll be spending time with the children at Abaana’s New Life Home, helping with street outreach to children and teenagers who are homeless, and painting and doing maintenance work at a local school.
I’m now raising funds to make this trip possible. The money will go towards my travel, accommodation, food, and transport while I’m in Uganda. I’ll be paying for my vaccines and other essentials myself. If more than my goal is raised, any extra will go towards either other volunteers costs or our team’s project fund to help buy supplies for the work we’ll be doing while we’re there.
Thank you to anyone who helps or shares this. Every bit of support means a lot and helps make this trip possible.
