Uganda Lacrosse - University of Michigan Lacrosse
Please join the alumni of Michigan Lacrosse in a partnership with the Uganda Lacrosse Association, the Uganda Golden Rocks Academy, Masaka Hopeful School and other youth programs to promote lacrosse as a foundational source of empowerment for children in communities surrounding Kampala, Uganda. Please see attached the support letter from the Uganda Lacrosse Association’s President, Makanda Ibrahim Jaffari.
In the first phase of the partnership, our team will be sending a shipment of lacrosse equipment to Uganda in Fall 2021. All proceeds of this fundraising will be utilized for the procurement, collection and eventual transportation of the equipment to Kampala. If our fundraising efforts exceed our logistics needs, additional funds will support the purchase of additional lacrosse equipment and support athletic programs for children in Uganda.
Our team consists of six former Michigan Lacrosse players:
Decker Curran (2019), Tommy Heidt (2019), Mike Hernandez (2016), Peter Hollen (2020), Brent Noseworthy (2019) and Mikie Schlosser (2017).
We will be collecting gently-used equipment across Connecticut, Colorado, California, Michigan and Ontario. If you are interested in collecting equipment on behalf of your greater lacrosse community, please contact the team member in your respective State/Province below and we will gladly organize to collect the equipment once complete.
Connecticut: Decker Curran, Tommy Heidt
Colorado: Mike Hernandez
California: Peter Hollen, Mikie Schlosser, Tommy Hedit
