We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Dr Bhaskar Katram, on August 17th, 2023. He graduated from Gandhi Medical College in 2011, received his Diploma in psychiatry from Osmania Medical College in 2017, and MD (psychiatry) from Mediciti Institute of Medical Sciences in 2020. He had recently fulfilled his long-cherished more-than-a-decade dream of pursuing a psychiatry residency in the US and had been a psychiatry intern for two months at the time of his untimely passing. He was a complete foodie; his love for biryani was unparalleled and transcended continents. He loved being around people and made sure he checked on everyone frequently. He was a loving husband, a doting father to his two children, a committed son to his parents, a caring brother, and a loyal friend.

'Bhaskar' means ‘the sun,’ and just like his name, he was a beacon of light to everyone close to him. The journey through the darkness left by his loss will be tough for those close to his heart. He will be greatly missed by the many individuals he touched during his time. Though nothing can replace the loss, we want to do all we can to help give the family strength to cope. He is survived by his wife and two children. His wife is currently on a dependent visa and will actively apply for residency positions in the upcoming match season. We have set up this fundraiser to support his loved ones and as one way for us and others to demonstrate our appreciation of his contributions to those he served and would have served had he the chance. The funds are meant to help his wife and children with housing, living expenses, child care, medical care, and legal and visa needs in the US until she can secure a residency position.
