Climbing Ben Nevis for Child Bereavement UK

Dear world,  Here is our story. I am sure we are not alone, loads of parents/families face these challenges EVERYDAY.This is why we want to help make even the slightest difference, when being faced to take those first few steps, however this maybe.  So I feel as though I am ready to share our story. Not nessasaryily for us, but for all the parents who could be faced with the same situation. Please no judgement, whatever your views maybe, just know this is the hardest decision we have ever had to make as parents. Our 20week scan a time of joy and excitement, showed us our beautiful baby boy. George Alfred Fenn. However not all was as expected. Due to covid 19, I had to find out this information on my own without my husband holding my hand and his reassuring comfort.  We were referred to the fantastic Evelina hospital for suspected heart condition. It was true our baby was very poorly. We were told within that HOUR, that our baby would need multiple surgeries, through out his life and not be guaranteed any real quality of life. We were also told he could face complications with his brain, as development takes place. To be told this shatters your world beyond imagine,we were faced with two options continue with no guarantees or to terminate our pregnancy My heart was in my throat, what do you do for the best? Nobody can tell you. So as parents we decided for our situation and our family, termination was the option for us, however this was never an option for me prior to this. But being parents means making those very tough decisions and unless you are faced with something like this, you will never really know what you would do. I have had to sign over my babies life, to protect him from constant pain and untold stress through out his life. I have also done this to protect my other babies, from developing an irreplaceable bond, to possibly have it snatched from them at some point in their life, which would cause untold pain forever more. I am saying this to you , because to all the parents out there, whatever your choice is, it's OK. It is OK, to make these choices, the choices that protect your children, the born and the unborn, to protect your family. I WANT YOU TO KNOW OUR BABY WAS AND IS VERY MUCH LOVED , I want you to know we/you will find our way. So here is to all of you parents, families and all those affected, who have lost a baby or a child in their lives, in which ever circumstance, you are not alone, your decisions are and were right for you and you are amazingly strong, wonderful people.  All our love xx Tiny steps, Big Hearts  ❤️ Ray and I will be climbing Ben Nevis, Next year, for all those suffering or have suffered, to help raise as much money and awareness for families in their time of need. Please donate what ever you can, no matter how big or small, it makes all the difference ❤️
