Meet Vasco!
Vasco has a rare congenital condition called Vascular Ring Anomaly, which restricts his esophagus and makes it nearly impossible to swallow food. Without expensive corrective surgery, he faces a lifetime of pain, malnutrition, and the constant risk of aspiration. The surgery is expensive, but the more time we spend with Vasco, the more difficult it becomes to put a price tag on his life.
Despite his condition, Vasco is full of life. His joy is contagious and his situation has reminded our team of dog lovers just how important the bond between humans and canines can be. In recognition of our devotion to these remarkable animals and prompted by Vasco’s indominable spirit, we are pleased to launch the Core Cannabis Museum’s new initiative, The Paws Project.
The Paws Project Mission
The Core Cannabis Museum was organized to bring attention to a marginalized and persecuted population: Cannabis Consumers. Through education, changing exhibitions and community outreach, we have endeavored to bring voice to this population. Thanks to Vasco’s inspiring spirit, we are now expanding our mission to include a hands-on effort to support our Cannabis Consuming Family by preserving the indescribable bond
between pets and owners.
The Paws Project aims to create a support system for the most vulnerable of our Cannabis Family; those navigating medical conditions, hospitalization, or incarceration for cannabis—moments when the responsibilities of pet care can become overwhelming or impossible. When pet owners face these challenges, their best friends often get lost in the chaos of the situation and land in shelters or worse. Imagine having to deal with the difficulties of a life altering medical condition or prison term, only to realize when you came up for air that your dog is gone. We’re building a bridge of compassion that can provide temporary foster care, food and veterinary assistance to cannabis consumers who need help holding onto their pets, because no one should lose their best friend when life gets difficult.
This initiative recognizes that when humans are at their most vulnerable, their animals are often suffering silently beside them. We as cannabis consumers and dog loversdeeply understand the importance of this partnership. We have been there, consuming cannabis, looking into the eyes of our dogs and feeling unconditionally loved and understood by these devoted, telepathic souls. We know that bond, and we hope The Paws Project can keep those bonds intact—through crisis, recovery, and everything in
between.
Your Donation Helps Us:
• Fund Vasco’s $15,000 life-saving surgery and recovery
• Provide pet food and veterinary care for Cannabis Consumers in crisis
• Match dogs with temporary foster homes while their humans heal
• Build a public system so people can request help
• Grow a movement that keeps pets and people connected, even through
hardship
Whether you give $5 or $1,000, your support directly funds urgent veterinary care, supplies, and foster placement for dogs like Vasco. Your contribution helps preserve the deep connection between people and their pets—especially during times of illness or crisis.
This Is Just the Beginning
The Paws Project is rooted in one simple truth: no one should have to say goodbye to their dog because they’re sick, in treatment, or caught in a system that wasn’t built to support them.
Vasco reminded us why we do this. Let’s make sure his story becomes the first of many.
Please share this campaign with your community. Every share helps bring in new eyes, new support, and new hope. If you believe in protecting love, loyalty, and the bond we share with our animals, this is your chance to act. Thank you for being part of it.
