Protecting the Pride Fence & My Family—Legal Defense Fund

For years, my family has endured targeted harassment and stalking from a neighbor who's gone to extreme lengths to manipulate and invade our lives. Their actions have shaken our world—creating fear and chaos that my mom understandably has struggled to navigate. Having known this individual since I was a child makes this all the more difficult and disturbing.

This person has made over 60 false police reports/calls, sent invasive videos of me in my own home, including intimate moments with my fiancé in our backyard, as well as spread harmful lies to defame me. Including seriously devastating false accusations that could have completely dismantled everything I have built in my life. I got a temporary restraining order, she violated it numerous times without consequence, without any reason. She also countersued us for her own restraining order, and since they had an attorney and we did not, they were granted a permanent restraining order. Eventually we were able to remove this false retraining order once we retained our own council. This individuals influence and constant pressure has deeply affected my mother, leaving her panicked and unsafe. Fearing for her safety and stability, she fled our home nearly 9 months ago and is staying with a friend in another state. Because the individual continues to speak to my mother and is taking full advantage of her kindness and trusting nature, I’m out of options. APS has done absolutely nothing to protect my mother and our family. Despite making repeated reports they dismissed our pleas for help by never even responding. Furthermore, this dangerous individual is pressuring my mom into dangerous decisions by filling her mind with falsehoods, fear and immense guilt all on the basis of lies. It's putting everything—my mom, our family, our home—at risk.

On top of that, the structural issues caused by their ADU continue to this day. Their drainage system is non-operational, and their encroachment on our land remains. The encroachment is what helped them secure their building permit from the city to begin with. We were forced to get a surveyor who said he would go to court with us to substantiate the encroachment. But, before this could happen the neighbor persisted in other legal filings, fees, fear, manipulation and behavior so scary, painful and bizarre we had no idea what to expect or do. In addition to that our family pool has been destroyed by flooding caused during the neighbor's ADU construction and their lack of proper drainage in addition to not containing any dust or debris during construction which damaged the filtration system, essentially ruining our pool. It’s left us unable to use it, adding to the heartbreak of seeing and experiencing damage to the home we’ve worked so hard to preserve and protect—including the Pride Fence, our powerful symbol of strength and togetherness.

Despite years of court battles fighting this neighbors false restraining orders, multiple complaints to the city for ridiculous reasons, false police parking citations, constantly having police show up in the middle of the night at least twice a month for the last three years (often times one night after another), killing my beautiful plants, defaming my name, recording me daily, peeping on me through the fence boards, continually texting/messaging/emailing my mother incessantly with complaints and advice, repeatedly connecting with my ex while also defaming her and her honorable service to our great country, I could go on and on. This neighbor has threatening my mom innumerable times with legal action to the point of tears, panic, heartbreak and hospitalization-yes she was taken to the hospital twice both after having been yelled at, harassed, bullied by this neighbor, one of which this person decided to record my mother instead of helping her. This neighbor then took that video and shared it with my mother’s friends, neighbors, strangers, you name it sending my mom into further turmoil. All while pushing my mom away from the one place she once felt safe too, her home. All that said—this harassment, unnecessary behavior that has torn my family apart, continues today. Last month I learned that this neighbor was still in contact with my mother after being repeatedly told even by the police, LEAVE MY MOTHER ALONE!

Stephen and I are exhausted, so tired and so sad as well as throughly and completely terrified. Having just gotten engaged on May 16th at my elementary school carnival where we volunteer each year to host the talent show, we immediately have been met with unimaginable challenges. But, I will stop at nothing to protect my mother, The Pride Fence, and the home that means everything to us. But we can't do it alone...we need your help! I’ve never been great at asking for monetary assistance for myself or family, but this situation has torn my family apart and placed my mom into a tortuous and never ending whirlwind of trauma and distress that none of us ever should have ever had to face. Not to mention THOUSANDS of wasted dollars on legal fees, to protect ourselves from this neighbors false accusations and continued bombardment. And my beautiful mother who was coerced and deceived into wasting thousands of dollars of her own after being manipulated into thinking she had no other option if she wanted to enjoy “her final years”,as the neighbor put it, implying as if my mom has little time left. My sweet mom, who has done everything to build me into who I am today does not deserve this, none of us do. It’s left us with no other choice but to reach out. With your support, these funds will go directly toward retaining an attorney who has already stepped forward to help us fight back, as well as paying off the remaining $1,000 from the $8,000 bill owed to our previous attorney who successfully removed the false permanent restraining order that this neighbor willingly lied to obtain. My mom fought tooth and nail for this house when I was just a kid because she knew the importance of the stability for me. I could never ever thank my mother enough for all that she has done, given and taught me.

To finally have our safe space feel protected and make sure my mom can live her life free of harassment and abuse by a neighbor who won’t stop. This neighbor has proven herself committed to our anguish and the dissolution of my mothers relationship with me.

It’s so much bigger than just a fence—it’s the heart of everything I’m fighting to protect.

2. How has this harassment impacted my family’s daily life?

It’s been devastating. We’ve lived in constant fear, under the shadow of false police reports, invasive videos, and lies that have shaken us to the core. My healing journey with my PTSD has been halted and all together reignited completely as there is no sense of peace at home. My Mom and I have lost countless relationships with people because of persistent false narratives and lies being spoken about me and her. I’ve been forced to leave my own home as well for days at a time to get a reprieve from the neighbor's stalking and obsessive behavior. My mom, who deserves nothing but peace, hasn’t felt safe in her own home for years now and has been manipulated to the point where she can’t even trust what’s real. The nightmares of my own neighbor harming me and the stress is unrelenting—it’s like we’re fighting to breathe every single day. It’s so hard to fight when I feel out of air. My home was my place to breathe.

3. What’s at stake if we can’t fight back?

Everything. My mom’s safety, the home that holds so many memories, and the Pride Fence—which stands as a beacon for everyone who has ever felt silenced or marginalized. If we lose this fight, it’s not just about losing property—it’s about losing a symbol of resistance and a sense of belonging that this neighbor is trying so hard to take away. Its about a mother and daughter losing each other in the chaos.

4. Why am I sharing this now, and what do I hope people take away from it?

I’m sharing this now because I can’t keep fighting this alone and I can’t bare to see this destroy my mother any longer. I know how much power we have when we come together. I often times struggle alone because I’ve always somewhat managed to take care of myself without the risk of not being heard… not being believed… of not being seen. But I've realized the entire reason I do what I do is so people feel seen and that includes me too. It has gotten unbearable, and we are no longer able to live our lives. I hope people see that this isn’t just my fight—it’s a fight for justice, compassion, and standing up to those who try to tear others down. I want everyone to know their support makes a real difference in protecting what matters most—my mom, family, our home, and a symbol and ever present message of love and hope that inspires so many.
