Hi my name is Charith Nanayakkara and I am raising funds to help build a emergency standby kitchen for the International Institute of Theravada (IIT), a Buddhist monastery situated in Karuwelagaswewa, Sri Lanka.

I visited this monastery early this year and was quite impressed with their mission towards - nurturing monks rooted in the original teachings of Buddha. There were about 70 resident monks, both local and overseas, participating in a structured learning program and pursuing their monastic lives in this peaceful and scenic surrounding. While the location is quite remote, the facility has come a long way, thanks to the tireless efforts and generosity of many. Thought I too should join this endeavor.

The funds will go towards building an outdoor wood-fired kitchen in the monastery. It will help to address current challenges of fuel shortages in Sri Lanka, for preparing the daily meals for monks and residents, during such difficult times.
