I am thrilled to be selected by the Light Foundation to run the 130th Boston Marathon. The Light Foundation was founded by former NFL player and 3x Superbowl Champion, Matt Light, and his wife Susie, to help young people develop the skills, values, and mindset they need to create a meaningful and productive future. https://www.mattlight72.com/
As I prepare for the Boston Marathon, I’m seeking donors who believe in community, perseverance, and the power of sport to transform lives. Your support will not only help me achieve the rare Six Star Finisher Medal (a distinction fewer than 500 Canadian women have earned), but also directly benefit youth through charitable programs.
Let’s work together to make a difference—because every step forward is a step toward something greater.
How it all began...
I started running in 2019, not really considering myself athletic. In fact, I used to think running was kind of silly. But one day, I saw someone post on Facebook about running a race at Disney. I remember thinking, “How can she run? She’s not the running body type.” And then it hit me — if she can do it, why can’t I? That single thought changed my life.
I laced up my running shoes for my first 5K during runDisney Princess Weekend. As I crossed that first finish line, one thought lit up my mind: “When can I do this again?”
I signed up for the runDisney Wine & Dine Weekend in 2020—but like so many dreams that year, it was sidelined by the pandemic. I didn’t let that stop me. I kept running, signing up for virtual races and joining online running communities to stay motivated and connected.
When in-person races returned, I dove in headfirst—completing my first runDisney challenge: a 5K, 10K, and half marathon over three days. The thrill of pushing my limits kept me going. In October 2022, I ran my first full marathon locally, mean while a friend was running the Chicago Marathon the same day. Her achievement lit a spark in me—and I knew I had to chase that feeling too.
In October 2023, I crossed the finish line of the Chicago Marathon, earning my first Abbott World Marathon Major Star. Along the way, I met Melissa Ponte—my running partner, motivator, and now a lifelong friend. Together, we set out to complete the Abbott World Major Marathon Six Star Medal Journey. Through hard winters, early mornings, and long training cycles, I continued to chase my dream, crossing more finish lines and earning stars...
• Berlin Marathon – September 29, 2024: I traveled to Germany and, with the guidance of my amazing coach, Coach Heather, I ran my personal best.
• New York City Marathon – November 3, 2024: With the help of close friends, the city’s energy, and the cheers of millions, I ran over numerous bridges, through 5 boroughs, and in to Central Park for an unforgettable finish.
• London Marathon – April 27, 2025: Despite the unseasonable heat, the iconic sights like Big Ben and Buckingham Palace inspired me as I crossed the finish line for Star #4.
What’s Next:
• Tokyo Marathon – March 1, 2026: I’ve been honored with a charity bib through Ronald McDonald House Charities. My family, along with Melissa’s family, will share in this cultural and athletic adventure—capped off with a visit to Tokyo Disney!
• Boston Marathon – April 20, 2026: This final leg of our Six Star Medal Journey is made possible through the Light Foundation, a charity devoted to empowering youth and uplifting communities. I’m deeply proud to run in support of their mission.
I appreciate all your support and happy you’re with me as I get closer to the finish line of this Six Star Medal Journey.
