Gemma's Journey to Tanzania Helping Alder Hey along the way
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Gemma and I am 15 years old. I have been busy fundraising for a charity expedition to Tanzania. The total cost of this trip is £4870 and I am hoping to raise a lot of money myself. Whilst I am there I will be set a range of tasks that involve a lot of team work and I will be able to help improve the local communities by repairing and rebuilding infrastructure and helping to supply them with fresh clean water supplies. With this trip I will have the opportunity to learn their local language which is Swahili and I will hopefully have the opportunity to teach them some of my knowledge too.
Here is my story: I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) in November 2023 (when I was 14), after I had a flare up in September and I didn't know what it was. I went through a lot of treatment and medication and now I can say that my flare up has gone and I have started my official MS treatment. I would love if you could help me on this 4 week expedition to Tanzania. It will help me prove myself and to say that I can do everything others can and make me a more confident young person. I want to share my experience with others and let people know that MS is not a barrier, I am the same and I just see it as an add on. I will be giving the Alder Hey Charity some of my money raised to thank the hospital for all the care and support they give me. I think that this trip will help change not only my life but also the families and people in Tanzania.
Please help me achieve my goals of helping the people and communities in living a better life, I will appreciate any donation no matter how big or small.
Thank you for your help and support!
