Last year, I had the opportunity to join the Travis Manion Foundation.  One of the many missions of this foundation is the Survivior’s Expedition to San Raymundo, Guatemala.  Many of these volunteers are family members of “fallen heroes”, those who have given their life in the service to our country.  The mission of the Survivor’s Expedition is  for families and friends of the fallen to come together and serve others,in this case building a home for a deserving family,  in honor of their fallen heroes. This group experience provides opportunities for survivors to continue the legacy of selfless serviceand tocontinue to heal and develop a support system that provides them an opportunity to serve alongside other veterans and survivors
I had the privilege of assisting in the building of a home for a family of six, very nice, hardworking people.  The joy and satisfaction of working with these very special volunteers, creating a home for beautiful, humble people and doing it all in the name of all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice including my friend and fallen hero, Major Jeffery Toczylowski was priceless!!

While on this mission last year I did my best to update my friends and family on our progress and experiences with pictures and messages on Facebook.  To my surprise, there was an overwhelming out-pouring of interest and support.  Many people asked, “How can I help?  How can I get involved?”  Well, the time to “help” and the time to get “involved” is NOW!  I have been invited to return to Guatemala and once again be part of this year’s team.  More importantly, I have been asked to assist with fund-raising on behalf of the Travis Manion Foundation to make this trip possible.  This “mission” fulfills two objectives: it supports the work of the volunteers/families of our Fallen Heroes to continue their work as well as dramatically changes the lives of poor, suffering families in third-world countries. 

All donations raised through this campaign go directly to funding this expedition and contributing to the successful construction of a home for a very deserving family.  The time is now to “help” and “get involved”!  I would personally like to thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity.
