My name is Marni Freedman.  I am a former social worker wanting to help out some recent Syrian refugees who are in San Diego.  I am working with the Syrian Community Network to provide direct support.   A caseworker, Shafa, put me in touch with the first family, Safa and Ahmed and their 6 children.  They fled the war in Damascus and spent 4 years in Jordan waiting to come to the US. Ahmed was a middle school teacher.  They are a lovely family with 6 kids, ages range from 2-14.  One of their children (9 year old boy) is a quadriplegic that provides certain challenges for the family.  The money will be used to repair Ahmed's car, purchase household goods such as curtains and a couch and daily living items such as clothing, toothpaste and cleaning supplies.  
I have met this family.  They are humble and it is very hard for them to ask for help.  So I am doing it for them.
